VAIA WOOD ART

The new supports for my paintings are made of the knocked down timber caused by the "Vaia" storm which struck the Violin Forest in northeastern Italy on October 29th 2018.

The wood can be traced through the production chain and is marked with the special PEFC logo, issued by the Certificate Authority, the Forest Certification Body.

Together we can support local communities and restore balance to the ecosystem. This is the best way to protect our forests.

This precious wood essence, also called Stradivari or Rigatino, buffed with waxed shellac, becomes a precious and elegant support for my paintings. There's no need for walls or frames: they simply represent freedom.

The bright polishing of the VAIA support was performed according to traditional "workmanlike" principles in order to highlight the natural "chiaroscuro" (light and shade) veins of the resonant spruce.

Rediscovering and practicing the secrets of this technique allows me to continue a family tradition that has its roots in centuries where craftsmanship was elevated to the role of art.
